Our Twilight Outing

I went to see "Twilight" this week with some awesome girl friends here in Iowa and we had a blast. The worst part of the night, however, was the movie! I was so disappointed! It wasn't the worst movie ever, but I had built it up so much in my mind that I was a little bit let down when the whole thing ended. I think what bothered me the most was the acting - they were all terrible (except for Edward - who blew me away!) So, I created my own cast in case they ever plan on re-doing the movie.

I'm tired....

My house is a disaster...
My kids are stinky...
The laundry is piling up...
I haven't showered yet today...
Last night's dishes are in the sink...
I was late for work...
and this is why:
I could not put this book down. It was depressing and uplifting. It was terrifying and comforting. Twice Luke walked into the room and I was openly sobbing (like - out of control sobbing) over the fictional characters. If you are looking for a book to read that will make you grateful to be alive - this is it. I loved it. You will too.

I'M AN OGRE!!!!

Brooklyn and I watched Shrek this morning and after the movie ended, she walked into the kitchen and started growling at Aubrey saying, "I'm an ogre!!" Oh, and I'm sorry that my kids never wear clothes in any of these videos - they just hate wearing them at home. And, after filming this video, I noticed that Aubrey is eating food off the floor! - lovely. And, the red marks all over Brooklyn's back are a contagious, flesh-eating bacteria.... just kidding. It's a birthmark people, don't call child protective services, ok?

Panic at the Webb Home

So last night, we were all snuggled up warm in our beds when at 4:21 am Brooklyn stared screaming. Luke got up to go put her back to bed when I heard Aubrey start crying too. Figuring Luke could use a little help since he was now being double-teamed, I walked into their room also. It was still pitch black in their room (considering that it was the middle of the night) and I walked over to Aubrey's crib to pick her up. I put my arms into her crib to get her out, and there was no Aubrey. Now at this point I would have started to have a serious panic attack except that I could hear her crying so I knew she was in there somewhere. During this time, Brooklyn is crying hysterically and repeating, "Broken. Broken. Broken." Finally, I move closer to the crib and feel something next to my leg on the floor! Turning on the light, we found Aubrey sitting on the floor looking completely confused in the middle of a pile of glass. The crib matress had fallen off of one side of the crib rolling her out onto the floor, smacking her into the side table, causing the lamp on the side table to fall into the crib, causing the light bulb to break into a thousand pieces and rain down on top of my poor, frightened, helpless child. Luckily, she wasn't hurt at all and went right back to sleep. We took a few safety precausions and are now currently on the market for a new crib.

This time I have to post 6 random things about me and then pass it on to 6 people. Yes, it's that simple.

Random thing #1: I cannot drive a stick shift. It's not that I haven't given it a good go. Infact, I have had so many people try to teach me (including mom, dad, Brittany, Josh Lee, Aubrey, and Luke) and in almost every case I either scared them so bad that they yelled at me to get out of the driver's seat that instant, got pulled over within 30 seconds (this really happened - the cop thought that I was some 12 year old out learning to drive in the K-Mart parking lot) or came within 2 inches of slamming into the side of a building.

Random thing #2: I fell off of a cliff when I was 11. I was skiing and it wasn't good.

Random thing #3: I have a list of things that I want to accomplish before I die. (#2: Design a room that gets published in a magazine. #11: Stand up for something when no one else will. #19: Give someone a second chance. #22: Publish a kids book. #27: Kiss behind a waterfall. You get the idea...) #28: Learn to drive a stick. Just kidding! :)

Random thing #4: I used to have a pet raccoon. My friend and I found it one day when I was in junior high and it was newborn and running around injured in the middle of the street. I picked it up and took it home and nursed it back to good health for about a month. (Until the little bugger bit me and we had to have it tested for rabies.)

Random thing #5: I was almost arrested for robbing a bank. It's a long story, and I would never reveal the names of my accomplices, but some friends and I were in the wrong place at the wrong time one night and it could have been bad. I was innocent, by the way....

Random thing #6: My life's ambition is to someday go back to school, get my nursing degree, move with Luke to Ukraine, and work in the orphanages there. How awesome would that be?

Partyfest 2008

This past week has been one huge Partyfest. First, on Tuesday, some of the girls in our ward threw a "non-candy" Halloween party for all the kids. Brooklyn and Aubrey had so much fun eating all the great food and playing with their friends. They went as Tinkerbell and a Jester, but we changed costumes later on (as you will see...)

On Wed, Mary (in the pic.) and I were in charge of our Pack Meeting for Boy Scouts and it turned out awesome. It was a ton of work and the boys totally wore me out, but we had such a good time. Some of the festivities included: "Harry Potter" broomstick races, "How to Eat Fried Worms" gummy worm eating contest, "Spiderwick Chrnoicles" capture the prisoner, and a "Nick of Time" treasure hunt. At one point during the evening, I was out in the hall when a group of boys ran by (during their treasure hunt) and one yelled out, "This is the best pack meeting EVERRRRRR!!" That made it all worth it.


On Thursday, we had "Beggar's Night" which is Iowa's version of Halloween (wierd - I know). An awesome family from our ward invited us over for a wonderful dinner and then we all took our kids door-to-door together. We had a great time until the stroller hit a small bumb (called a curb! :) and Brooklyn smacked her face into Aubrey's seat in the double stroller. Her mouth started pooring blood but once we got her all cleaned up and gave her a sucker she was happy as can be!



On Friday we had our ward Halloween party and Trunk-or-Treating. Unfortunately, my lame camera wasn't working so you are just going to have to use your imagination for this part.

And finally.... on Saturday was Brooklyn's birthday party! She had a princess themed party and it was awesome! We had princess hats for the girls and crowns for the boys to decorate with jewels, crayons, and stickers; a castle with a slide; a princess pinata; and of course a castle cake with icecream. She got some awesome presents and has enjoyed playing with them all weekend. One in particular (from her Grandma and Grandpa Campbell - thanks!) she has refused to let go of since she opened it. It's a doll with a stroller, bassinet, diaper bag (with tons of accessories), car seat, blanket, and tons more. Brooklyn has slept with it every night and we have loved watching her turn into a little mommy. Thanks everyone for your love and support of our little 2 year old! She loves you and so do we!!
