Singin' In The Rain

 When you're in a drought and you've been praying and fasting for rain and you get it, there are only 2 things to do.

#1: Dance in the rain
#2: Be grateful for every single drop.

 

Valentine's Day

 It's Valentine's Day.

Which means we have written our names on 61 Frozen valentines, smothered each other in hugs and kisses, and eaten ourselves one conversation heart away from a sugar-induced coma.

And I LOVE it.


Here is what I LOVE about my kids this year.

*BROOKLYN*

* Brooklyn is faithful.  She's such a spiritual giant with the purest and sweetest testimony.

Brooklyn is determined.  She was in a race on Friday against all the first grade girls and she got 3rd place.  When she wants something, you can bet your bottom dollar she'll make it happen.


*Brooklyn is reflective.  She's such a deep thinker with the most intriguing and complex questions.


*Brooklyn is a planner.  She is already counting down the days till she can go to college and be a paleontologist and open her Dinosaur Cafe.


*Brooklyn is joyful.  She's always openly happy.  She has a booming laugh and she' a cheerful little ball of fun.


*AUBREY*

*Aubrey is spunky. She has so much personality jammed into her teeny little body.  She never runs out of energy and is always saying or doing something entertaining.


*Aubrey is tender.  She is always careful with people's feelings and constantly taking care of people around her.  She's amazing with Cameron and is the best second mommy.


*Aubrey is talented.  She is good at almost everything.  She's an amazing soccer player, a good gymnast, a smart student, a good reader, a quick learner, and a selfless friend.

*Aubrey is mature.  It's easy to forget that she's as young as she is.  She has her diva moments, of course, but she's usually mature well beyond her short 6 years.


*Aubrey is fun.  She has a laugh that's easy to come by and delightful to hear.  She loves making people happy and having a good time.


*CAMERON*

Cameron is iron-willed.  At 2 years old he is already a natural-born-leader.  He does NOT like being told what to do and is very independent in every choice he makes.

*Cameron is always interested.  He loves to learn and explore and discover.  He has a deep love for trash trucks and all things construction.

*Cameron is smitten.  He is an ultimate mamma's boy (but also his daddy's best bud).  And he has a mega-crush on the animated princess of Arandelle, Miss Anna from "Frozen."  He tells me several times a day that Anna is "so pwetty."  Oh, boy.

*Cameron is hilarious.  He enjoys making us all laugh and he does so without much effort.

*Cameron is playful.  He is a little flirt and a darling little tease.  Like most brothers, he usually takes his teasing too far in the end, but we still think he's adorable.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Locks (and Locks) of Love

3 years ago, Aubrey chopped off all her hair and became the real-life version of Rapunzel when she went from a blonde-curly-haired-princess to a short-spiky-brunette overnight.

Since then she hasn't let anyone get near her head with scissors.  

(Apparently my lecturing/threatening/pestering worked!)  

But, alas, the time had come.

So we took her in, chopped it off, gave her bangs, donated it to Locks of Love (they make wigs for cancer patients), and went upon our merry way.  

She loves it.  And so do we.
