I Know What You Did This Summer

This Summer was a strange one for us.  And by strange I mean "the most insane/crazy/wild/abnormal" summer of our lives.  It included a move, a new house, a new school, a new job, new friends, a new life.  But somehow we still managed to make it a really great summer.

Here are the best 20 Things We Did This Summer.

1. Graduated from Fellowship! (WoooofreakingHoo!)

2. Took one last final (and special) trip to the beach with friends.

3. Said Good-bye to our life in California and headed to Idaho.  Lots of tears.  Lots of hugs.  Lots of love.

 4. Built a house.  (Stay tuned for later posts coming soon. ish.)

5. Ate so so many snowcones.

6. Took evening family bike rides at sunsest.

7. Visited the Idaho Falls zoo and love it.

8. Toke romantic motorcycle bike rides on forgotten back roads.

9. Watched the Blue Angels Air Show.

10. Celebrated the 4th of July with a fun run, a parade, a BYU, a ward party, a night of fireworks.

11. Discovered our amazing local library.

12. Rode a horse.

13. Attended our new town Summer Days Celebration.

14. Took the most epic bubble bath.

15. Flew to California for the sweetest, happiest, most beautiful wedding of all time.

16. Swam in Rigby Lake.

17. Rode motorbikes.

18. Went swimming (and discovered Jagger had stowed-away + jumped out of the car window + snuck into the pool).

19. Drove down to Provo and enjoy the first BYU Football Game.

20. Had a pretty awesome summer.

Bailey Jane : Two Point Oh.

 She's Sweet and Spicy.
She's Fun and Crazy.
She's Dear and Darling.
And she's TWO.
So here are the Top 2 Answers to Questions about Bailey at 2 Years Old.
What 2 Words Best Describe Bailey?
1. SPUNKY.  She is just a little ball of spunk.  She's crazy when she's at home and loves to dance, tease, laugh, party, and flirt.  She gets in hyper moods at times that are unstoppable (and why would you want to stop her anyway?)
2. ATTENTIVE.  While Bailey is fun and lively, she has an equally serious and pensive side.  I can literally "see the wheels turning" in her mind daily.  She is observant and concerned and sensitive.  She watches closely and learns quickly and is an enjoyable little sidekick.
What Is Something Bailey Does Every. Single. Day?
1. READS HER 3 BEDTIME BOOKS.  First = "That's Not My Dinosaur" where she points out the "mouf" (mouse) on every page.  Second = "Baby Signs" where she has every page memorized and does all the baby sign language.  ("Help Me" is hands. down. the best thing ever.)  Third = "Touch and Feel Baby Animals".  Creepy title, but the way she does all the animals sounds (Fish is the best, Monkey and Elephant tie for a close second.) makes it ok.
2. CLIMBS ON THE COUNTER.  She lives her life on the kitchen counter.  There's no keeping her off.  We've threatened + begged + pleaded + bribed.  We have given up.  She wins.
What Is Bailey Scared Of?
1. Nothing.
2. That is all.
What Are Bailey's Favorite Foods?
1. Whatever mom has on a fork that is already half-way to her mouth and must be intercepted before mom can actually take a bite.
2. Otter-pops, Watermelon candies, Oreos, goldfish, candy of any form, and chocolate milk.
Bailey's Top 2 Moments This Week?
1. Taking her poopie diaper off and answering the door for a neighbor while I was in the bathroom.  (Thanks, hun.)
2. Finding Brooklyn's makeup drawer and using her mascara as lipstick.  (She actually did a surprisingly good job, but still looked like a cross between a zombie-mime and a gothic Joker.)
What Is Bailey Best At?
1. COLORING.  She has the most amazing motor control/hand-eye coordination I've ever seen at her age.  Her drawing pages look like tiny little patterns instead of typical baby scribbling.  They're actually really, really cool.
2. CLEANING.  She is a meticulous cleaner.  I'm seriously concerned we are headed dangerously near the OCD path.
What Is Bailey Worst At?
1. TALKING.  She speaks her own secret language we've dubbed "Baylish" and gets terribly frustrated when we don't translate fast enough.  It's cute as heck though, so I'm gonna let it slide.  (Until Kindergarten, and then SPEACH - we're comin' at ya.)
2. DANCING.  Oh, this girl.  We enrolled her in dance a few weeks ago thinking that with the amount of dancing she does on the kitchen counter, she'd be a natural.  But sadly, notsomuch with the dancing.  She literally stands like. a. statue.  for the entire 30 minute class.  Does not take a step.  Does not move a muscle.  Does not twitch an eyebrow.   (My favoite 30 minutes every single week.)
What Are Bailey's Favorite Things?
1. BABIES.  Real, fake, big, small, cute, ugly, bald, hairy, sleeping, awake.  GIVE HER ALLLLL THE BABIES.  She spots them, points them out, and accosts them at every available opportunity.  Gooooood thing she's our last child.  ;)
2. SCHOOL BUSES.  Seriously.
What are 2 Things We Don't Know About Bailey?
1. SHE IS A HAIRY MONKEY.  No, forreals.  She is so so hairy!!  She has the cutest, furryest back and shoulders.  Right now it's cute, but someday we are going to have to do something about that.  :)
2. SHE IS ABNORMALLY STRONG.  The other day I was watching TV and I looked over and she was doing a perfect pike hold between the coffee table and the couch.  Do you have any idea how hard that is?  And I kidyounot when I say she has a 6-pack.  I'm. not. lying.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAILEY JANE.

Total ECLIPSE of the Heart

 I'm not going to lie.
I was pretty skeptical about this whole eclipse thing.
But I went along with it because I'm a good sport and any excuse to be outside is an excuse I will take.  But I wasn't buying the hype.  The sun and moon cross each other.  Oooooh kay.
 But. YoU. GUYS.
Our experience during the Eclipse was one of the coolest experiences ever.
We found a secluded spot out in the foothills of Ammon and spent a fun morning running wild down some dirt paths, eating alllll the junk food, and staring at the sun.
 And then it happened.
It went from a normal summer Monday morning to pitch black in a matter of seconds.  The temperature dropped, the light was gone, and an ethereal halo replaced the sun.
And then just as fast as it came,
it was gone.
It's something I could never describe in a meager blog post, but I hope it's something we remember for a long time.

Love this place + love these people.
