I. Hated. February. (...and my first book review)

Friends.
Oh, how I've missed you.
I apologize for setting a new record in blog neglecting, but if you had any idea what the last 3 weeks have held for us, you'd let me off the hook.
I promise I missed you way more than you missed me.

This past month has been a crap tornado in which we were swept up, spun around till we puked, and then dropped on our heads.
It seriously sucked.
Here are the highlights:
1.) For 12 days, the only time I got off the couch was to throw up.
2.) I lost all desire to do anything that did not include a remote control, Oreo ice cream, or having my eyes closed.
3.) That's pretty much all you missed.

Next year, we are skipping February.

On one happy note though, I discovered the secret to getting some guilt-free Mommy time.
It's a book.
This book:

Every time we went to Barnes & Noble (which is more often than I would like to admit), Brooklyn would beeline it for this book, plop herself down in the middle of the isle and for the next little while she was - for all intents and purposes - dead to the world.
The employees started to look at me weird after an hour, so I bought it.
We brought it home on Wednesday, and they've been reading it ever since.
Brooklyn knows most of the animals already from watching "Planet Earth," but it never ceases to amaze me the incredible details and astounding facts that she remembers.
I was a little shocked, however, to discover that the book was slightly more PG-13 than I initially realized.

It contains graphic depictions of people dying horrible and painful deaths.
My kids can't get enough.

And that is what we've been up to.

Kennedy has a really graphic shark book that she fell in love with around age 3. And, as you probably know, she's an adorable genius. Circle of life, man. No worries :)
