Everything Is Awesome! {Our Trip to Legoland}

Since our time here in Southern California is slowly ticking away (today is the first official day of our 4th year of Residency!  WHAT?!), we decided that we better start checking off some of the things on our imaginary "Must Do Before We Leave California" list.
So we planned ourselves a much-deserved little mini getaway for Luke's last vacation week of the year since we have literally been promising this for the last 3 years.
Everything. was. awesome.
First, I must admit a few things.
#1: Taking pictures was not my main priority this trip.  I recently checked myself into my own mental version of momarazzi rehab, and I really tried to focus on spending this trip with my eyes open and my hands free.  Hence the sub-par photographs.
#2: This trip entirely filled our Summer Fun Quota (maybe for the next 2 summers, actually).  We are done having fun, people.
The first day we decided to tackle the water parks.  We applied sunscreen on 4 occasions throughout the overcast day and all still ended up as red as a lego brick that night.
That wasn't super awesome.
The water park was amazing and we spent the day being mermaids in the wave pool, sliding down water slides, taking the massive boat plunge, floating down the lazy river, and burning our feet on the sidewalk.
After the water park, we did the speedy version of the Sea Life Aquarium.  It's right there inside the park and it was... (you guessed it...) awesome.
After a night of jumping on the hotel beds, devouring our Wendy's happy meals and bathing in aloe, we headed back for our second day at Legoland.
Luke had the privilege of riding all the rides with the girls while I got to hang with the little man.
It was a good deal.
He even took them on what I call the Spinning Ninja Ride of Death, which I honestly believe was created as a form of crowd control by the Legoland creators because after you ride it you're sick all day and then you have to leave.  They are so lucky they have one cool parent.
Cameron missed out on a few of the big rides, but he was pretty stoked about riding the horse, which he argued was a unicorn, and I let him believe it.  But it's a horse.
Towards the end of the day we stumbled upon a mini water area (which would have been ideal to stumble upon the day before, darnit), and since we have no restraint whatsoever, we let the kids go at it in their clothes.  Why not, right?  Well, I'll tell you why not.  Because they were wet all day + they weren't allowed to climb the rock wall + Cameron fell asleep wet in the stroller and woke up angry as a badger + they got every single Lego car wet and more than one kid probably thought it was pee.  But do we regret it?  No we do not.
One of the kid's favorite rides was this one where you race a huge Lego police or fireman car against other people and then put out an imaginary fire and try to save Lego Town.  We were the clear winners all 3 times and we had no problem trash-talking the losers and making ourselves not very popular with the other parents.  All in a days' work, kids.
Possibly the best part of the day was the Lego Car Ride, which was a truly terrifying experience and provided an eye-opening glimpse into the future teenage years of my children's lives, but was also strangely entertaining.  (Although, call me a racist if  you must, but those Asian kids were the scariest little drivers of all time.  Whenever they got within 5 feet of another car there was a spontaneous head-on collision.  Every single time.  It's on video.  I can prove it.)
We finished off our trip to Legoland with Cameron's favorite roller-coaster and then spent the rest of the night eating pizza in bed, wetting ourselves over the funniest episode of Impractical Jokers ever, and falling asleep in about 13 seconds flat.

Everything.
Was.
Awesome.
