"Adventures"

To: Brooklyn & Aubrey
Love: Mom

We had some grand adventures today, the two of you and me.
We took a trip to outer space and sailed across the sea.
We met a band of aliens and pirates on a ship,
and then we found some mermaids and they took us for a dip.
You were a ballerina and you danced for a huge crowd.
And even though it was pretend, you made me really proud.

We had a special visitor - the Queen came by for tea.
It was a nice change that I didn't mind, to have you feeding me!

And then we were on the Yellow Brick Road and we sang as we walked along.
I've never heard such a beautiful sound as when you sang your song.
We met Snow White and two of the dwarfs - I think it was grumpy and sneezy.

And then we went flying way up in the sky (but the landing wasn't easy!)
You then became a puppy and a cowgirl on her horse.
And I became the evil queen, you were the princess (of course).

Next you were Picaso and you painted a work of art,
I realized you're growing up too fast. It kind of broke my heart.

And before we knew it the day was done,
it was time to go to bed.
So I tucked you in, turned out your light
and kissed you on the head.

Before I left, I whispered soft
what I hoped you already knew.
And your answers came so clear and sweet,
"Hey mom, I love you too."
