This Is Why We Can't Get a Dog - Part II

You'll never guess what we have in our house right now.
I'll give you a hint.
It's not a frog.
And it's not two frogs.

OK, give up?
...

It's three frogs.

Thrilling, huh?
(Some of us are far more thrilled than others.)
Their names are: Fred (yep, Fred. I'm so full of surprises tonight.), Squeaky (this frog squeaks like a squeak toy. It's actually quite endearing), and Trampoline. (As in... trampoline.)

They smell bad.
And they live in my bathroom.

Anyway, remember a year ago, when I posted about why we can't get a dog?

Well, here we go again.
(Except this time, we're practicing on frogs and not fish...)

Reason #1:

This face.
This is the face Brooklyn makes when her frog gets lost in her closet.
Not. cool.

Reason #2:
Aubrey woke me up the morning after we got them by calmly explaining that, "Mom, we only have 2 frogs now."
"WHAT!?!"
"Well, one got lost under the kitchen."
The kitchen = the oven.
We had to move the fridge and the oven out to get him.

Reason #3:
They are making Aubrey a little crazy.
It took me 15 minutes to talk her into letting us take them outside to play on the grass.
Her concerns were:
- the frog will hop into the road and get run over by a car.
-the frog will get eaten by a dog.
-the frog will get eaten by a bird.
-the frog will fall down a hole.
-the frog will hop under a rock and get squished.
-the frog will run away from us.
-the frog will get eaten by a cricket. (she's a little confused...)

Reason #4:
Reason #5:
Reason #6:
Reason #7:

At least someone is having fun.

Lots, and lots of fun.

Your girls' frog adventures, while so incredibly sweet, make me 1.glad we dont have a pet to get lost places like under the stove and 2. make me hope McKyla doesn't take up an interest in frogs. You are quite the trooper to have found a place in your heart for those cute yet slimy, jumpy critters! But I bet it's worth it if your girls love it right?! All I know is McKyla has an obsession with ladybugs and I have to tell myself to be brave and hold them too! haha. Good luck with your three pets and tell your girls that they are growing up too fast-I cannot believe how they are growing up, without me to witness it!

those actually just sounded like a whole bunch of reasons why they SHOULD get a dog! they look like such good, cute little pet keepers and a dog woudln't get lost under the kitchen! :) we miss living so close to you guys!

that's hilarious. Chloe loves to hold those toads...and yes we own one as well...AND it squeaks too! Ted says that yours is the third toad he's ever heard of that squeaks, I wonder what decides weather it makes that cute sound or not.
I hope they last :)
