Have I ever told you that my kids watch Documentaries?
Like, scientific National Geographic Documentaries with titles like "Sky Monsters", the "Science of Breeding Dogs", and the "Human Body". (A few weeks ago, Brooklyn asked me what sperm was. Sperm, people. Sperm.)
But one of their favorite Documentaries is called "Sea Monsters" and has resulted in an obsessive fascination with dinosaurs.
So, to indulge the whims of two aspiring archeologists, our family jumped into a time machine (the family van) and traveled around the world (downtown Des Moines) and back to the Jurassic Period (Dinosaur Day at the zoo).
There, we were able to uncover the buried bones of the Cretoxyrhina (someday you MUST ask Brooklyn about the Cretoxyrhina. Just trust me.)
watch the hatching of a Corythosaurus's eggs,
witness a Velociraptor feeding frenzy
(all of the dinosaurs were mechanical, so they all moved and growled, and appeared surprising real. It was simply awesome. My kids could not take their eyes off of them - for fear of being eaten.).
We almost got our arms bitten off (I SOOO regret that you can't see Brooklyn's face in this picture. See how she's trying to pull Luke's arm back...!?),
and narrowly escaped a ravenous T-Rex.
Not a bad day.
