WebbMD

This week, Dr. Webb (who happens to be my husband, thankyouverymuch) began Residency.
After 6 weeks of having him at my beck and call and  making him my own private whipping boy, he decided to go and start playing doctor.

Luckily, there is a law that Residents may not work more than 80 hours a week.
Unluckily, there is not a law that Residents may not work more than 79.5 hours a week.
Because that's what we're looking at, folks.

Let's reiterate.
79.5 HOURS. A. WEEK.

Consider me rudely awakened.
On the bright side: We get to look forward to his homecoming most days.
(Except the days that he's on call which is about 4 times a week, and the kids will already be in bed when he gets home).
I made him put his coat on for the picture.  It's currently blazing outside, and no, he does not wear his white coat while driving to show off for the rest of the cars on the freeway.
I totally would, though.

On the dark side: This means that I now get the pleasure of taking all 3 kids to church most Sundays all by my lonesome.
Which would be a lot easier if one child in particular did not have ants in his pants, demand to climb every stair/bench/music stand/chair/briefcase and piano bench in the building, and had not recently learned how to screech like a howler monkey.
I still love church, though.

And on the other bright side, I get gems like this:
He was out cold in 30 seconds flat.
Welcome to Residency, Dr. Webb.

Oh geez, this was us exactly one year ago. It does get better. It sure came as a shock, though... I had no idea what residency was like.

Church by yourself. Yes, some weeks sacrament meeting can be very, very long. I learned Saturday really is "the day we get ready for Sunday"-- pack diaper bag, lunch (church is hour away), and lay out clothes for all my girls. That little routine has made all the difference. -- and I have embraced Reputation as the "scatterbrained mama with more kids than she can control" -- most weeks someone feels sorry for me and helps clean up my tornado like mess after sacrament. Things will get better as the weeks go by. I promise!

This is so how it goes. I cannot count the number of times Tyler has fallen asleep in mid-sentence talking to me. It does take some getting used to but you can and will do it. There will be good times to like those times when he is awake and home!
