Brooklyn Nine Nine

Today the girl who made me a mother turned nine years old.
NINE.  YEARS.  OLD.
It marks the half-way point to adulthood.  Half-way before she's out on her own.  Half-way to the time we have to teach her everything she needs to know.  Half-way to when she leaves childhood behind for good.
It's been an amazing nine years.
And we've got another amazing nine years ahead.
Since it's Brooklyn's ninth birthday, here are nine fun things about her.
#1: She wants to be a vet when she grows up, and she will make a GREAT one.
#2: Brooklyn has a hilarious laugh.  One of my favorite things to do with her is watch funny videos because her laugh is even better than the video.
#3: She has an amazing memory.  She can recall conversations and events with unbelievable detail.
#4: She is becoming increasingly mature in so many ways.
#5: Brooklyn is unnaturally gifted at reading.  At the beginning of third grade, she tested at a 7th grade reading level.
#6: Her hair is constantly messy, no matter what we try.
#7: She is extremely kind.  She is the first to reach out to anyone that needs help and is especially admired by younger kids because of how sweet she is to them.
#8: She is a complete conundrum.  She likes wearing earrings and lipstick, but is never able to keep her clothes clean.
#9: She is fun and lovable and wonderful and smart and caring and full of a goodness that I adore.

Happy Birthday, Brooklyn.
