Our Inconceivable Halloween

A few months before Halloween, we dug out "Princess Bride" from the far corner of our DVD cabinet and decided the time had finally come.  The popcorn was popped, the pillows were fluffed, the lights were dimmed and I was confident the kids would last less than 12 minutes into the movie before being decidedly bored. to. tears.
But naturally, since my mommy-radar sucks, they LOVED it and our Halloween theme was almost-unanimously decided upon.
(Side note: Sadly, Brooklyn wasn't feelin' it.  I sobbed a little into my pillow that night, but decided that there are bigger battles to fight and Cinderella is cute too and I totally don't mind that she's too cool for us and it didn't feel like a knife to the heart at all.  Or whatever.)

Anyways...
in Halloweens past I have written about how similar we are to our characters, but this year I'm conflicted.  Let me explain.  No, there is too much.  Let me summarize.  We are each like our character and also not like our character.
Here's how.

Bailey was our little Princess Buttercup.

Similarities:  They are both just slightly overly-dramatic.
Buttercup almost kills herself when she is forced to marry a prince and live in a castle and rule a kingdom and wear glittery crowns and breathtaking dresses.
Bailey cries herself hoarse when she has to burp.
They both need to calm. down.
Differences:  Bailey has just a teeny bit less hair than Buttercup.

Cameron was our Westley/the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Similarities: They are both witty and hilarious and excellent swordsman and they each suffer from split identity syndrome.  Which is a thing that I did not just make up.
Differences: One has a Mexistach and one does not.  Also, one uses the phrase "As You Wish" a lot and one is not real great at doing things that other people ask him to do.

Aubrey was the Princess Buttercup - Bride Edition.
Similarities: They both are passionate and kind of love-sick.  Aubrey has a mad crush on a boy at school and told me a few weeks ago that she wants to kiss him.  Stop.  Just stop.
Differences: Buttercup's kind of a sissy.  And Aubrey's not.

Brooklyn as Cinderella.

Similarities: Brooklyn and Cinderella live by the same moto: "Have Courage and Be Kind."  Also, they both are forced to do a whole lot of chores and cleaning.

Differences: One prefers glass slippers and one prefers cowgirl boots.

Luke was Inigo Montoya.  (I honestly can't say that name without following it with, "You killed my father, prepare to die."  Can't do it.)
Similarities: The look, the voice, the mannerisms.  They are practically twins.  Oh, and also they are both noble and gentlemanly and trustworthy and loyal and they both have a healthy amount of chest hair.

Differences:  There are none.  It's inconceivable.

I also was Princess Buttercup.  Red Dress Version.
Similarities: We each ended up with our one true love.
Differences: If my man was being eaten by a Roden of Unusual Size, I would pick up a goshdarn stick!  Just sayin'.
Happy Halloween!
