Last Week I Went Diving.

Not spring board diving.
Not platform diving.
Not scuba diving.
.....
Dumpster Diving.
(More on this in a brief moment...)

*Side Note: In the 2 years since we have lived her in Iowa I have come to one undeniable conclusion.

Iowans are awesome.

Not all Iowans, though.
Some try to walk into your house at 1 in the morning when they're too drunk to realize they've got the wrong apartment.
True story.

Some (mini-Iowans) think it's okay to ask if they can steal your bike.
Also a true story.

And some are smokin', cursin', liberal-as-they-come (gasp) Democrats!!
But most Iowans are just really good people.
And we like it here.

But Iowa earned some major awesome points recently when we were driving down the street one day and noticed huge piles of junk on everyone's front lawns.
Long and confusing story short: It's an Iowa thing.
People put their "Spring Cleaning" trash out on their front lawn, and other people come take what they want.
It's a garage sale for the whole city.
And everything's free.

By the end of the evening, we had a trunk full of treasures, 2 sleeping children, one happy wife, and an exhausted husband.
(He found an ab machine at someone's house and since I refused to provide it a permanent residence in our bedroom, he got one good ab workout in before he had to say good-bye.)

We left with a super-sweet grill, a huge canvas that I have big plans for, a carpet steam-cleaner, and a boat.
Uh huh, a boat.

Sort of.
The second I looked at it I could see it's potential.
But it needed a make-over.
Really badly.

So we cleaned it.
We painted it.
We filled it.
And we haven't gotten out of it since.

I love you, Iowa.
